The extraordinary cultivar, Nepenthes spathulata x spectabilis ‘Helen’, originates from a single carefully selected clone through tissue culture. Named in honor of Dame Helen Mirren at Borneo Exotics’ gold medal-winning display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2011. Elegant pitcher shapes and striking coloration, this hybrid combines the hardiness of N. spathulata with the unique beauty of N. spectabilis. It is versatile, tolerating a wide range of growing conditions, though it thrives best as an intermediate to cool grower.
